Dream Warrior

Sherrilyn Kenyon's latest release in the Dream Hunter world, Dream Warrior, was released on February 3, 2009. It tells the story of Cratus, AKA Jericho, who defied Zeus and earned thousands of years of torture and abuse for doing so. The son of Warcraft and Hate, he had been Zeus' right hand man until he looked into the eyes of a small baby girl and couldn't kill her. Flash forward through a few millenia of daily beatings, killings, and resurrections, Zeus is looking for Jericho to save their collective butts from an old enemy. Jericho being understandably reluctant to partake in the butt saving, Zeus resorts to dirty tricks, and sends Delphine to seduce him. Delphine is a Dream Hunter whose primary responsibility for almost her entire existence has been to protect humans from the Skoti who prey on them in their dreams. Despite her lack of experience with seduction, she manages to capture Jericho's attention, and  completes her task, even if not as Zeus had originally intended.

This book is crammed full of action as is Ms. Kenyon's usual, but there are a few surprises for Dark Hunter fans, with some fun cameos and new character introductions made. I loved this novel, I think she is building up to some great stuff and it is gonna be an awesome ride!
Again, here are some links for purchase-

Stakes & Stilettos

Somehow the ARC gods smiled upon me and I managed to lay my hands on this novel.

Michelle Rowen releases this fourth book in the Immortality Bites series on March 31, 2009.  I have gotta say that while I was happy with the action break in Sarah's story for Quinn's in Lady & the Vamp, I am happy to be back in the middle of Sarah Dearly's not so fangtastic immortality. Thierry is featured more in this story than in the others, with the readers getting a glimpse into his head and background. I have always liked Thierry in spite of his seeming coldness but now you get a true idea of why he does what he does, and who he is, and it makes him much more endearing as a character. Sarah gets into her usual amount of trouble, getting staked,  cursed, and rescued by a masked person calling himself the Red Devil. Add in parents concerned that she is dating a married man and a ten year high school reunion and all hell is literally breaking loose.

This installment has a lot of action, great character building and awesome plot development. This story is part of a two story arc with the last in the series coming in September, so don't expect complete resolution, but it does end on a "happy for now" note that will hopefuly hold you over for the six months until Ms Rowen concludes this series.  I know I am on pins and needles waiting!

Deadly Desire

At a visit to New York Comic Con, I managed to get my hands on an ARC for the upcoming seventh  Riley Jensen, Guardian book by Keri Arthur .

It took me a little while to get into this book, maybe because it had been so long since I read the last Riley book that I just felt disconnected from the world, or because Riley just isn't out there almost getting killed every two seconds in this one. Whatever the reason, it may read a bit slow to some in comparison to some of the others in the series. BUT, oh lordy, Ms Arthur makes up for it in the end!

Riley is investigating not just a series of vampire killings (its the vamps being offed) but a series of zombie killings (the zombies are doing the offing). All of it smack dab in the middle of the full moon. Needless to say Riley gets herself into a spot of trouble. She is trying to juggle time with her super hawt vampire lover Quinn into her case load, and is actually doing a pretty good job, but is distracted by the appearance of bounty hunter Kai into the mix. This unlikeable (or so Riley tries to tell herself) werewolf keeps turning up, setting Riley into a hormonal twist.

I definitely recommend this book, while not as action packed as previous books, this one has a few emotional and personal discoveries for Riley that will have you hopping up and down waiting for the next installment! Deadly Desires releases on March 24, 2009. You can preorder at any major retailer. Here's a couple of the biggies for convenience.
